Iowa has the highest indoor radon levels in the country, and every one of its 99 counties is an EPA Zone 1 county.

certified to test but not to install the fix
A high reading you want fixed means a mitigation certified company. Only wanting to know where you stand means measurement is enough, and a long-term test kit you place yourself costs less than a visit. Neither national registry separates the two, so this page does.
The Iowa Radon Survey found 71.6 percent of Iowa homes above the EPA action level of 4 pCi/L, with a statewide average of 8.5 pCi/L. That is not a state with a radon problem in some neighborhoods. That is the national worst case, everywhere in the state.
The practical consequence is that in Iowa a high reading is the expected result rather than the surprising one. Testing tells you the number; it is what you do with the number that matters.
Iowa Code chapter 558A requires the seller of a residential property to complete a written disclosure statement that asks about radon directly: whether the property has been tested, what any results were, and whether a mitigation system was installed. Where results exist they must be handed over, and the buyer also gets the Iowa Radon Home Buyers and Sellers Fact Sheet. A disclosure is not a test. It says what the seller knows, and if nobody has ever tested the house the honest answer is that nobody knows.
Certified to install a radon reduction system in a home. Most of these also test.

Certified to measure radon but not to install the fix. Many are home inspectors who test as part of an inspection, which is how radon first comes up in most sales.

Taken from the public directories of NRPP and NRSB, read 2026-09-01. Certified individuals are grouped into the company they list, and each company is tagged with what its people are certified for. Phone numbers and websites appear only where a registry publishes them; we do not fill the gaps from third-party data, because name matching gets it wrong often enough to put one firm's number on another firm's listing.
Listing is free and alphabetical. Nobody pays for position. Certifications expire and registries lag, so check a company's current standing before you hire. If something here is wrong, tell us and it gets fixed.
